I am so pleased you have found discovHer on your journey. I wonder why you have landed on this page. Perhaps you are looking to take your career to the next step? Or maybe you are looking for others in a similar position? Or are you just wondering if there is any support out there?
In 2006 I was at a similar point on my journey. I was self-employed, which had many benefits, but, if I am honest, 50 per cent of the time I was terrified. The pressure and self-doubt seemed to pile in and I lacked the support, reassurance and expertise I sometimes needed. As many of you know, being self-employed can be a lonely business. There are epic highs and lows and no colleagues to vent to.
I decided to reach out to a few people about the problems I faced. And I soon realised that I was not alone. What’s more, through talking to like-minded women, I realised that one of my biggest joys was people – hearing their stories, sharing with them and bringing them together.
So, after much deliberation, I decided to take the leap and launch discovHer, a community of women who support, encourage and grow with one another.
This is a steep learning curve for me, but I’m taking it one small business step at a time. I now have a group of amazing women by my side: it is wonderful to see women empowering women.
